Caversham, Reading
Caversham is Reading with a river in between, and it would like you to notice the river. It is one of the few bits of Berkshire allowed to call itself the Chilterns, a point residents make almost as often as they cross Reading Bridge to catch a train from Reading station. Henry VIII had its pilgrim shrine torn down, and the locals kept the well and the habit of feeling slightly above everything. The view south is wide and lovely, and every inch of it is Reading.
