Henley-on-Thames

Henley-on-Thames has built its whole personality around people travelling backwards up a river, and it charges accordingly. The railway gives up here, at the end of a branch line from Twyford, which suits a town that has never been keen on anyone passing through. Once a summer the blazers come out and the place becomes exactly what its critics say it is. The rest of the year it's a handsome riverside market town hoping nobody noticed.
