Bromham, Bedfordshire

Bromham is where Bedford people go once they have earned a driveway and want the town kept at arm's length, on the far side of a medieval bridge over the Ouse. The streets are mostly post-war detached houses and bungalows behind proper hedges, built for people who like to know exactly where their lawn stops and the neighbour's ambition starts. Matt Berry was born here, and the village has been turning the volume down ever since.
