Brockham

Brockham is the village you spot from the top of Box Hill and decide, on the drive home, you could definitely afford. You can't, and the ruins of Betchworth Castle on the spur outside the village are a handy reminder of how things go for people who overreach round here. The parish church was commissioned by a former Chancellor of the Exchequer, which tells you the money turned up early and never found a reason to leave. The River Mole runs straight through the middle, the one resident nobody has managed to price out.
