Horley

Surrey's departure lounge, minus the duty free·Surrey·South East England

In 1974 Horley went to Parliament to get itself back into Surrey and let Gatwick stay in West Sussex, which is the most Surrey deal anyone has ever struck: keep the postcode, give away the airport, then carry on living next to it. People move here for the runway and then spend years telling everyone they moved here for Surrey. To most of the country, Horley is just the name on the airport hotel receipt.
