Brixton Hill
Brixton Hill is technically just a stretch of road between Brixton and Streatham Hill, which is why every listing on it gets Brixton's name without Brixton's Friday night under the bedroom window. Parliament banned building on Rush Common in 1806, and the two centuries since have been a slow, patient test of how much of a ban people can get away with building on. The trams went, the old tram shed stayed, and the buses now take the climb with the same weary groan as everyone walking it. You get Brixton within walking distance and the hill on the way home, which is a fair deal after the second pint and a worse one after the fourth.
