Streatham
Streatham was named after the road to Brighton, and the road has been its loudest resident ever since. The Georgians came out for the healing spring water. Their modern replacements come for the Edwardian terrace Clapham priced them out of, then spend a year learning that three railway stations are not the same thing as one tube stop. Every new arrival has a rehearsed sentence about how close Brixton is, and the sentence gets shorter every winter.
