Avonmouth

Avonmouth is where Bristol keeps the things it needs but would rather not look at: the docks, the chemical works, the power station, and enough warehousing to lose a small country in. The houses sit in the thin gap between all that and the M5, which is a polite way of saying nobody moved here for the peace and quiet. On a clear day you can see Cardiff across the estuary, and locals will tell you that is the finest view in Avonmouth, which is less a compliment to Avonmouth than it sounds.
