Is Aston Clinton a safe area?

For anyone buying or renting in Aston Clinton.

Aston Clinton is a safe place to live, and comfortably safer than the county around it. Crime runs about a third below the Buckinghamshire level. Unemployment is close to zero. Hardly anyone lives in an overcrowded home. Most of the excitement here is on the hill.

Thames Valley Police recorded about 44 crimes per 1,000 residents across the Aston Clinton area, Weston Turville included, in the year to May 2026, roughly 32% below the Buckinghamshire average. That came to 500 recorded crimes over the twelve months from June 2025, a total covering the village and the neighbouring settlements around it.

For comparison, Buckinghamshire as a whole recorded about 65 crimes per 1,000 people over the same year. The county is hardly a hotbed itself, so beating it by that margin puts the village among the calmer corners of a calm county.

The neighbourhood behind those numbers is spread out and comfortable. Population density averages about 1,860 people per square kilometre across the area's small statistical neighbourhoods, unemployment was about 2% at the 2021 census and about 1% of households were overcrowded. That describes the kind of place it is and explains nothing about the crime rate, and nobody has the evidence to say otherwise.

The mix of offences looks a lot like everywhere else. Violence and sexual offences made up about 40% of recorded crime in the year, against about 35% across England and Wales. That is a broad legal grouping, covering everything up to and including a shove outside a pub that leaves no mark, and it is the biggest category almost everywhere. Anti-social behaviour was about 15% here against 16% nationally, so slightly under. Other theft ran at about 10% against 7%, public order and criminal damage were both about 8% against 7%, and vehicle crime was about 7% against 5%. In a village where most working people commute by car, the cars on the drives are a big share of what is worth stealing.

Reporting something does not mean anyone gets charged for it. Thames Valley Police charges a suspect in about 9% of cases, against about 12% nationally, which puts it 37th of 42 forces in England and Wales. About 37% of its cases close with no suspect identified. Those are force-wide figures covering a patch from Milton Keynes to Reading, and they say how the police handle crime, which is a separate question from how much crime there is. A low-crime village with a slow-charging force is a better place to be than the reverse.

Safety is one of Aston Clinton's real strengths. The village sees much less crime than the county, and the worst of it looks like the ordinary run of English village trouble.
