Yatton

Everyone else's railway station, with a village attached·Somerset·South West England

Yatton is the village that hung onto its railway while everyone prettier lost theirs, which turns out to be the most interesting thing about a place otherwise assembled from post-war housing on drained marsh. Clevedon kept the pier and the Victorian swagger, then drives over to Yatton to catch a train. The last genuinely dramatic thing to happen here was a man being exorcised in 1788, and the village has spent the years since quietly running the timetable and asking for nothing more.
