Is Wooburn a safe area?

For anyone buying or renting in Wooburn.

Yes, Wooburn is a safe village, and its crime figures are small enough to count on two hands a month. About fifty offences in a year. Well under the county rate. Almost nobody out of work. If something does happen, the charging record is the weaker half of the story.

Police records for the year from June 2025 to May 2026 show 53 crimes in Wooburn's neighbourhood statistical area. The published rate is about 36 crimes per 1,000 residents, roughly 45% below the Buckinghamshire average. With a total that small, a few incidents either way move the rate noticeably. Even so, the gap to the county is wide enough that a bad month wouldn't close it. The street-level map on police.uk shows where the reported crimes happened, and it is worth checking for the road you have in mind.

For comparison, Buckinghamshire as a whole runs at about 65 crimes per 1,000 residents over the same period, against Wooburn's 36. The county figure includes High Wycombe's town centre and every other busy part of the authority. A village with a green, two conservation areas and a church school puts very little of that work on Thames Valley Police.

Wooburn has about 930 residents per square kilometre on average, unemployment of about 1% at the 2021 Census and overcrowding of about 1%. These figures describe a low-density village of owner-occupied houses with most residents in work. They describe the kind of place it is and do not explain the crime rate. Wooburn has less going on in it than most of Buckinghamshire, and the police figures reflect that.

When a crime is reported, Thames Valley Police charges someone in about 9% of cases across its whole area, against about 12% nationally, ranking 37th of 42 forces in the year to May 2026. About 37% of the force's cases are closed with no suspect identified. These are force-wide figures, decided at force level, and they describe what happens after a report, which is a different question from how often anything gets reported. In Wooburn the reports are few, and the follow-up depends on a force that ranks near the bottom on charging.

Wooburn is about as safe as Buckinghamshire villages get, with a crime rate far below the county's and very little in it to push that figure up.
