Shrewton

Where the tanks are quieter than the tourists·Wiltshire·South West England

Shrewton sits between Stonehenge and Salisbury Plain, which means the neighbours are a five-thousand-year-old stone circle and the British Army, and only one of them practises firing at night. The chalk under the village drains beautifully right up until the day the River Till decides otherwise, at which point the pretty bit becomes the wet bit. It is the kind of place where a local barrister once bought Stonehenge on a whim and gave it away, and nothing that interesting has been allowed to happen since, which is precisely why people move here.
