Is Pinner a safe area?

For anyone buying or renting in Pinner.

Yes. Pinner is one of the safer parts of Harrow, and it shows in the borough's own figures. Recorded crime is about a quarter below the Harrow average. Unemployment is low and few homes are overcrowded. What crime there is leans towards cars and houses more than violence. In Pinner the worry is a break-in or a stolen car, not an assault on the way home.

The Metropolitan Police recorded 4,419 crimes in Pinner in the year from June 2025 to May 2026. The published rate is about 66 per 1,000 residents, roughly 23% below the Harrow average. That count covers a district of 53,513 people, so it is spread thinly over a lot of streets.

Harrow as a whole had a rate of about 85 per 1,000 over the same year, against Pinner's 66. Pinner sits clearly below the borough figure. The difference is big enough that it won't disappear after one bad month.

The surroundings help explain the figures without explaining them away. Pinner has about 4,870 people per square kilometre, so it is properly suburban, not sparse. Unemployment is about 3%, and about 6% of households are overcrowded. Those are the figures for a settled suburb with plenty of work and enough room.

The mix of crimes is where Pinner differs from the national picture. Violence and sexual offences make up about 24% of recorded crime here, against about 35% across England and Wales. That category is broad and includes common assault where nobody was injured. Anti-social behaviour is about 22%, against 16% nationally, and shoplifting about 11%, against 8%. Vehicle crime makes up about 10% against 5%, and burglary about 7% against 4%. Because violence takes a smaller share here, the property crimes take up more of the total. A suburb full of driveways and family houses gives thieves plenty to aim at. Look up the street-level crime map on police.uk for the specific road and the few around it. Burglary and car crime tend to cluster, and Pinner's overall rate will smooth that out.

Charging is decided across the whole Metropolitan Police force, and Pinner has no separate figure. In the year to May 2026 the Met charged a suspect in about 10% of cases, against about 12% nationally. That puts it 33rd of 42 forces. About 53% of its cases were closed with no suspect identified. Those figures say how the force deals with crime once it's reported, not how much crime Pinner has. Someone whose car is broken into should expect a crime number, and rarely much more.

Pinner is a safe place to live by Harrow's standards, with the main risk being to cars and homes more than to people.
