Lydd

The end of Kent, with a power station for company·Kent·South East England

Lydd gave its name to an explosive, and the country has treated it as the safe place to let things go bang ever since. The Army still trains on the shingle, a nuclear power station lives at the end of the road, and a wartime spy was caught at the Rising Sun for ordering perry before opening time and asking about the tides. For the best part of a thousand years Lydd has sat at the bottom of Kent doing the jobs Whitehall wanted done a long way from Whitehall.
