Dymchurch
Dymchurch is a bungalow village held behind a sea wall that the Marsh has been billing its residents for since the Tudors. Getting out of that tax is where "scot free" came from, and nobody on this side of the boundary has managed it since. Even the railway runs at a third of the size you expected, and Laurel and Hardy reopened the station, which is about the right level of celebrity endorsement for a place that refuses to take itself seriously. People come for the sea view, and then the insurer explains how much higher the sea sits than the garden.
