Is Iver Heath a safe area?

For anyone buying or renting in Iver Heath.

Iver Heath is less safe than the rest of Buckinghamshire, by a margin you notice. Recorded crime runs about a fifth above the county rate. Violence and sexual offences take the usual share. Damage to cars and property takes more than usual. In most counties this would be an ordinary rate, but Buckinghamshire is a quiet county and Iver Heath stands out in it.

Thames Valley Police recorded 1,103 crimes across the Iver Heath area in the year from June 2025 to May 2026. The published rate for the same period is about 78 crimes per 1,000 residents, roughly 20% above the Buckinghamshire average. That figure covers Iver Heath and the villages around it, so a single busy road anywhere in the wider area can lift the total. The police's online crime map shows the street-level picture for a particular road.

Buckinghamshire as a whole recorded about 65 crimes per 1,000 residents over the same twelve months, against about 78 for the Iver Heath area. Thirteen extra crimes per 1,000 does not make anywhere dangerous. Buckinghamshire just makes a small gap easy to see.

The area averages about 2,260 residents per square kilometre. Unemployment is about 3% and about 4% of households are overcrowded. Those figures describe the neighbourhood without explaining its crime, and nothing in them links the two.

The mix is more interesting than the total. Violence and sexual offences make up about 35% of crime here, the same as the 35% across England and Wales. That category covers everything from serious assault to common assault without injury, so the matching share is unremarkable. The differences show up lower down the list. Criminal damage and arson make up about 10% here, against 7% nationally, and vehicle crime about 9%, against 5%. Other theft (about 8% against 7%) and public order offences (about 8% against 7%) are a little above the national share. Anti-social behaviour runs the other way, at about 10% against 16% nationally. Crime in Iver Heath makes less noise than usual but costs more in damage.

Charging is a separate question from how safe the streets are. Thames Valley Police charge a suspect in about 9% of cases, against about 12% nationally. That ranks the force 37th of 42 in England and Wales, and the figure covers the whole force area. About 37% of its cases closed in the same year with no suspect identified. When Edward and Æthelred besieged the Danes on Thorney Island in 893, the raiders were made to leave without their plunder. That is a better recovery rate than many victims of modern theft can expect.

On safety, Iver Heath rates below average for Buckinghamshire. Its crime rate is noticeably above the county's, and the extra crime falls mostly on cars and property.
