Hazlemere
Hazlemere is High Wycombe's driveway with a parish council. The cherry orchards went under post-war estates so fast that nobody remembered to build anywhere to go, and the residents ended up campaigning for their own library. It still calls itself a village, with the straight face of a place whose centre is a crossroads on the A404. A Nobel chemist lived out his days here and James Corden left for Los Angeles, which is roughly the choice on offer.
