Fair Oak

Fair Oak: where the fair left in 1918 and never came back·Hampshire·South East England

Fair Oak is named after an oak tree that got chopped down in 1843, which tells you roughly everything about the pace of drama round here. This is Hampshire commuter belt doing exactly what it was designed to do: quiet streets, a sensible school run, and neighbours whose strongest opinions are reserved for the bins. The most riotous thing that ever happened was a mob smashing up threshing machines in 1830, and even that has the energy of people who wanted to be home before dark. If you are after somewhere that nothing bad happens and nobody minds that nothing much happens at all, you have found your oak tree, minus the actual oak.
