Burghfield
Burghfield has a motorway service station inside the parish and no way onto the motorway, which tells you most of what you need to know about the place. It was manors and pasture from before Domesday until Reading ran out of room, and the estates that followed turned it into a dormitory with a very old church attached. The Bronze Age went into the gravel pits, and people now sail dinghies on the holes. Buyers come for the Reading commute and then spend twenty years calling it the countryside.
