Whitfield, Kent

The village that moved to the roundabout·Kent·South East England

Whitfield is a village in roughly the way a bypass is a scenic route. The old name belongs to a hamlet and a church out in the fields, while the Whitfield people actually mean grew up beside the junction of the A2 and the A256, a place of bungalows, cul-de-sacs and sensible driveways. Half of Kent thunders past it on the way to the ferries and almost nobody turns off, which is the whole point for the people who did.
