Sandown
Sandown is what happens when you give five miles of perfect beach to a town that decided the answer was arcades, bungalows and a Grand Hotel with planning consent to be demolished. Charles Darwin worked on the Origin of Species at the King's Head Hotel in 1858, which remains the high-water mark for ideas generated in the town. It wants to be Lyme Regis. It is Skegness with fossils, and the fossils are doing the heavy lifting.
