New Milton

A market town that never quite started·Hampshire·South East England

New Milton is what happens when a village gets a railway station and then spends the next century deciding whether it liked it. Old Milton is still down the road being quietly medieval about the whole thing, while the newer half handles the actual business of shops, schools and getting people to Waterloo. It is the sort of town where the most exciting architectural feature is a mock-Tudor water tower, and where a good number of residents moved here specifically so nothing exciting would happen to them. The Luftwaffe bombed it three times and locals still mostly talk about the parking.
