Middleton Cheney

Middleton Cheney is in Northamptonshire on paper and in Oxfordshire every time it needs a car park. The main road used to run straight through the middle until a bypass took it south, and the village has spent the years since enjoying being driven past. Upper and Lower each get their own conservation area to guard the old cores, while most of the place is post-war semis and bungalows with two cars on the drive and firm views on hedge height. Banbury has the station, the big shop and the nights out three miles away, close enough to use every day and far enough to keep saying you live in a village.
