Is Isleworth a safe area?

For anyone buying or renting in Isleworth.

Yes. Isleworth is safer than most of the borough it belongs to. Crime here runs about a quarter below the Hounslow average. Violence and sexual offences make up a share close to the national one. Cars attract more attention than they should. For a dense bit of west London, the numbers are reassuringly ordinary.

The Metropolitan Police recorded 4,677 crimes in Isleworth in the year to May 2026, a published rate of about 88 per 1,000 residents. That's roughly 25% below the average for the London Borough of Hounslow.

The Hounslow average is about 117 crimes per 1,000 residents, against Isleworth's 88. Isleworth's London Road becomes Hounslow High Street within a few hundred metres. Buyers who rule out anywhere in the Hounslow borough rule out Isleworth with it, and Isleworth is one of the calmer parts of the borough.

Isleworth is a built-up area, with about 10,250 people per square kilometre on average. Unemployment is about 4%, and about 11% of households are overcrowded. That describes a busy, inner-suburban part of London. None of these figures causes crime, and an area this dense recording a rate this far below its borough is worth noting in its favour.

The mix of crime is close to the national one. Violence and sexual offences make up about 33% of recorded crime here, slightly under the 35% across England and Wales. That category is the largest almost everywhere and includes common assault without injury. Criminal damage and arson (about 7%), other theft (about 7%) and public order offences (about 5%) are all at or below their national shares. Two categories run higher. Anti-social behaviour is about 21% of crime here against 16% nationally, and vehicle crime is about 10% against 5%. The Great West Road and the London Road both run through the area, and the cars parked along them are the most frequent targets. The police's online crime map shows reports street by street, and it's the best place to check the roads around a specific house.

The Metropolitan Police charges a suspect in about 10% of cases across its whole force area, against about 12% nationally. That ranks it 33rd of 42 forces. In about 53% of Met cases, nobody is identified. These are force-wide figures for all of London, with no figure available for Isleworth alone. They measure what happens after a crime is reported, which is separate from how often crime happens in the first place. If your car is broken into, the odds are against anyone being charged.

Safety is one of Isleworth's real strengths. It's well below the borough average and the mix of crime is close to normal, with only parked cars attracting more than their share.
