Is Cricklewood a safe area?

For anyone buying or renting in Cricklewood.

Cricklewood is about as safe as the rest of Brent, which puts it squarely in the middle. Its crime rate is a shade above the borough's. Violence makes up a smaller share of its crime than it does nationally. Anti-social behaviour makes up a bigger share. Crime here is more of a nuisance than a danger.

The Metropolitan Police recorded 12,368 crimes in Cricklewood in the year from June 2025 to May 2026, and the published rate comes to about 133 crimes per 1,000 residents. That puts the area roughly 2% above the average for the local authority.

Across Brent as a whole, the published rate for the same year is about 130 per 1,000. Cricklewood's 133 is barely different. Crossing from Cricklewood into the rest of the borough would hardly change your odds.

It is a crowded place. There are about 12,600 people per square kilometre on average, about 5% of residents are unemployed and about 14% of homes count as overcrowded. These numbers describe what the streets are like. They do not explain the crime figures, and none of them causes crime on its own. A district this tightly packed simply puts more people, cars and shopfronts within reach of each other.

The mix is what matters most here. Anti-social behaviour makes up about 27% of Cricklewood's recorded crime, against 16% across England and Wales. Violence and sexual offences make up 24% against 35% nationally, and that category covers everything up to common assault without injury. Vehicle crime makes up 8% against 5%, other theft 8% against 7%, and public order offences 5% against 7%. Shoplifting is at 8%, almost the same as the national share. So Cricklewood has more nuisance and more trouble with cars than average, and a noticeably smaller share of violence. The police's online crime map shows reports by street, and the street you are thinking of buying on matters more than the borough average. Look it up, then walk it once after dark.

Once a crime has been reported, the Metropolitan Police Service charges a suspect in about 10% of cases, against about 12% nationally. That puts it 33rd of 42 forces. In about 53% of its cases, nobody is identified at all. That figure applies to the whole of London's force. It tells you how likely a case is to reach court across the capital, and nothing about how likely you are to need to report one in Cricklewood.

Cricklewood's safety is middling. The figures you can feel are the nuisance and the car crime, and the serious crime runs below the national share.
