Cold Ash
Cold Ash sounds like what's left in the grate after a bonfire, which is an odd name for a village that has never let anything get out of hand. It sits in the North Wessex Downs, close enough to Newbury for the big shop and far enough away to talk about Newbury like a foreign country. The houses are large, detached and set well back from anyone who might knock. Nobody moves here for the nightlife; they move here so nobody else's nightlife can reach them.
