Bredon is a safe place to live, and comfortably so. Crime runs well under half the district's rate. Hardly anyone of working age is out of a job. Hardly any home is short of space. Trouble has to make an effort to reach Bredon, and most of the time it doesn't bother.
West Mercia Police figures put Bredon's crime rate at about 25 per 1,000 residents in the year to May 2026, roughly 64% below the Wychavon average. That rate covers 66 recorded crimes over the twelve months from June 2025. The rate is published for the statistical areas the police use, so it does not match a simple count of residents. The biggest land grab in Bredon's recorded history is still the 1811 Act of Inclosure, when the lord of the manor and the rector came away with large consolidated holdings, all of it perfectly legal.
Wychavon's own rate over the same year was about 69 crimes per 1,000 residents, against about 25 in Bredon. The district average includes its towns as well as its villages, and Bredon is on the lower end of that spread. To see where incidents fall near a particular house, use the police's street-level crime map for the postcode, because a village rate cannot show whether one lane has more than another.
Bredon's neighbourhoods average about 1,780 people per square kilometre. At the 2021 Census unemployment was about 2%, and under 1% of households were overcrowded. These describe the kind of place Bredon is: mostly owner-occupied houses with room in them, where most people of working age have a job. None of that proves why crime is low. It is simply the setting that comes with the low numbers.
When a crime is reported, the charging figure belongs to West Mercia Police as a whole. In the year to May 2026 the force charged a suspect in about 11% of cases, against about 12% nationally, which puts it 27th of 42 forces in England and Wales. About 27% of its cases were closed with no suspect identified. Those numbers tell you how the force deals with crime once it has happened. They do not tell you how likely crime is in Bredon, and they are the same for every village the force covers.
Safety is one of Bredon's real strengths. Crime is low, the village is comfortably off, and most residents will go a long time without needing the force's charge rate at all.
