Redlynch, Wiltshire
Redlynch is four villages wearing one name, and one of them is called Lover, which was named Warminster Green until 1876 when somebody with a sense of occasion clearly had a better idea. Most of the parish sits inside the New Forest National Park, which means the ponies have more legal protection than your extension plans. The rest of it is the kind of place where the pub car park is the closest thing to a town centre and everybody knows exactly whose dog that is. If you want anything open after nine, Salisbury is a twenty minute drive and it will feel like a night out.
