Greenhill is Herne Bay with a dual carriageway between you and the sea, which is the whole point if you came for the parking and the whole problem if you came for the pier. The old Thanet Way got demoted to a road number nobody can remember, which suits a suburb that was never in a hurry to get anywhere. Post-war semis, bungalows and closes that curl back on themselves so faithfully that the satnav starts to sound doubtful. It is the seaside town's back room, with the telly on low, and it has no plans to come through to the front.
