Who lives in Frimley?

For anyone buying or renting in Frimley.

Settled homeowners in their forties, mostly, and very few people passing through. Three in four households own their home. The typical resident is in their mid-forties. Students are almost impossible to find. Frimley is where people end up once they've stopped moving house for fun.

About 76% of Frimley's households own their home. Private renting accounts for about 14% and social renting for about 10%. A landlord here is a minority figure, and a letting agent's window has little to say. Most doors in Frimley open with a key their owner paid off, or is paying off.

The median age is 44. People aged 25 to 44 make up about 24% of residents, so the young working crowd is present but doesn't set the tone. This is a town of established households, not first jobs and flatshares. The pub quiz team has had the same captain for a while.

Household income, modelled across the area and before tax, averaged about £74,000 in the financial year to March 2023. That figure describes households a few years ago, not today's pay packets. It is a comfortable number, and it fits a town where two salaries are the normal way to afford a semi.

Families with children are a large part of the picture, not the whole of it. Every figure on this page comes from the 2021 census. Couples with dependent children make up about 25% of households, and lone parents about 8%. Single-person households account for about 24%, and within those, pensioners living alone make up about 13% of all households. The pensioners are a subset of the single-person figure, not an addition to it. Frimley holds the school-run generation and the one that did the school run decades ago, often on the same road.

About 38% of adults hold a degree-level qualification and about 13% hold no formal qualifications at all. Full-time students make up about 2% of residents, which explains the lack of cheap kebab shops open at 3am. The mix is broad: graduates, tradespeople and retirees share the same streets without anyone keeping score.

The people are one of Frimley's real strengths. They are settled, secure and staying put, and they are the reason the town feels the same every time you visit.
