Edenbridge has good primary schools and a longer trip at secondary. There are a handful of state primaries in and around the town. Kent grades about nine in ten of its schools good or better. The nearest secondary is a drive away, not a walk. Parents here get the easy years first and the logistics later.
There are three mainstream state primaries in the area, and their pupils averaged 105 in key stage 2 maths. Edenbridge Primary School is the one in the middle of town, and the one most families mean when they say "the school". Around it are small church primaries in the villages, including Hever Church of England Voluntary Aided Primary School and Crockham Hill Church of England Voluntary Controlled Primary School. There is also Four Elms Primary School. Village primaries like these are often small enough that the head knows your child's name before you've worked out the parking.
Ofsted has graded 221 of Kent's 245 graded schools good or better, which is about nine in ten. That covers the whole county, not just Edenbridge. Kent also has 38 schools rated Outstanding, 21 rated Requires Improvement and 3 rated Inadequate. A further 255 settings have no published grade yet, and that means they haven't been graded, not that they failed. With odds like these across a county, the families in the next village are unlikely to be complaining much either.
A school's name on a listing is not a place at that school. Admission depends on the school's own rules, and for the church schools that can include criteria that have nothing to do with how close you live. Check each school's admissions arrangements before you let an estate agent's "close to the primary" do your thinking. Department for Transport modelling from 2019 puts the nearest secondary about 20 minutes away by car and about 34 by public transport. Walking it takes most of two hours, so secondary school means a bus or a lift.
The schools are one of Edenbridge's real strengths. The primaries are the easy part, and the only hard work comes later, with the timetable for the secondary run.
