Dobwalls

A village the bypass politely stopped visiting·Cornwall·South West England

Dobwalls is a village whose main claim to fame was a theme park built around a man's private obsession with American trains, in Cornwall, forty minutes from the nearest bit of America-shaped anything. The park is gone. What remains is a strip of houses that spent decades being the thing you drove through on the way to somewhere with a beach, and then the bypass took even that away. It is quiet now in the way places are quiet when the traffic that ignored them has been formally redirected to ignore them somewhere else.
