Danbury
Danbury is built on a hill, which in Essex counts as a personality, and the people who bought here paid handsomely for the privilege of looking down on Chelmsford. It is detached houses and bungalows strung around a common and a country park, for buyers who wanted the countryside without ever letting go of the car keys. Someone fortified the summit in the Iron Age to keep outsiders off the hill. The asking prices do the same job now, with better manners.
