The schools are among the best arguments for living in Colnbrook. Nearly every graded school across the borough is good or better. The village primary is a short walk from most homes. Secondary school means a bus. Families who arrive for the house prices find the education side of the bargain stronger than they budgeted for.
Around here there are three mainstream state primaries, and their pupils averaged a key stage 2 maths score of about 104. The one carrying the village's name is Colnbrook Church of England Primary School, and the Department for Transport's 2019 model puts the walk to the nearest primary at about 11 minutes, or eight by car. Pippins School and Castleview Primary School are also on the list of primaries nearby. For a village squeezed between the M25 and the M4, a school run of under a quarter of an hour on foot is an unexpected gift.
Secondary is a different trip. The one mainstream state secondary in the area scored an Attainment 8 average of 46. On the same 2019 model, the nearest secondary is about 50 minutes on foot, 30 by public transport and 13 by car. Langley Grammar School, The Langley Academy and Ditton Park Academy are among the secondaries families around Colnbrook look at. The railway that might have carried them closed in 1965, so teenagers here get to know the buses.
Ofsted has graded 18 schools across Slough, and 17 of them are good or better, so all but one. Six are outstanding, none requires improvement and one is inadequate. Those counts cover the whole borough, and a further 24 settings across Slough have no published grade yet, so they are left out of the tally entirely.
Places are handed out under Slough council's published admissions rules, and a house near a school's gate secures nothing on its own. Colnbrook is at the far eastern end of the borough, so look up how the admissions rules measure distance and how far last year's places reached for the secondary you want. The primary is the easy part. Secondary is where parents here end up studying a borough map.
Schools are one of Colnbrook's real strengths, and the only snag is the secondary journey.
