Is Hextable a safe area?

For anyone buying or renting in Hextable.

Yes, and comfortably so. Crime runs more than a quarter below the rest of the district. Hardly anyone is out of work. Hardly any homes are overcrowded. Hextable's crime story is short enough to read standing at the bus stop.

Police.uk recorded 324 crimes across Hextable in the year from June 2025 to May 2026, a published rate of about 46 per 1,000 residents. That puts the village more than a quarter below the Sevenoaks district average. The grandest public event in Hextable's recorded past is the Prince of Wales opening the Homes For Little Boys in 1883, and the police log has kept roughly to that level of drama ever since.

The district rate across Sevenoaks over the same twelve months was about 64 crimes per 1,000 residents, against Hextable's 46. Sevenoaks is hardly a rough district to begin with, so being well below its average puts the village among the calmer places in an already calm corner of Kent.

The neighbourhood behind those numbers is suburban in density, at about 2,730 people per square kilometre on average across its small statistical areas. At the 2021 Census unemployment was about 2% and only about 1% of households were overcrowded. These describe the kind of place Hextable is. They do not explain its crime figures, and nothing in the record links one to the other.

Violence and sexual offences made up about 36% of Hextable's recorded crime, against about 35% nationally, which is level with the rest of the country. That category is a broad legal grouping that includes common assault where nobody was hurt, and it comes top almost everywhere. Anti-social behaviour made up about 19% against 16% nationally, criminal damage and arson about 14% against 7%, and vehicle crime about 7% against 5%. Public order and other theft each came to about 6%, slightly under their national shares of about 7%. With only 324 crimes in the year, a few incidents can shift any of these shares by several points, so the criminal damage figure is a year's tally, not a permanent feature. On totals this small, one busy month on a single road can double a category.

Kent Police charges a suspect in about 16% of cases, against about 12% nationally, which ranked it 6th of the 42 forces in the twelve months to May 2026. About 36% of its cases closed with no suspect identified. Both are force-wide figures covering all of Kent, and they measure what happens after a crime is reported, not how likely one is to happen in Hextable. For anyone wondering whether a stolen catalytic converter ever comes back, those are better odds than most of England gets, though still a long way short of good odds.

Safety is one of Hextable's real strengths: crime well below an already low district average, and a mix that only stands out because the totals are small enough for one bad month to show.
