Gosport
Gosport is a peninsula the railway gave up on in 1953 and which has spent seventy years proving the railway right. The ferry to Portsmouth takes five minutes; the drive to the motorway takes forty-five on a good day, longer at 8am on a Tuesday. It's a naval town the trains forgot, and the residents seem mostly fine with that. Lymington it isn't, and it isn't pretending to be.
