What are the schools like in Chadwell Heath?

For anyone buying or renting in Chadwell Heath.

The schools are among the best things about Chadwell Heath. Primary pupils finish with solid maths scores. The secondaries put up respectable results. Almost every school in the borough has been graded good or better. Parents can stop worrying about the schools and spend the energy on the admissions form.

The area has seven state primaries with published results, and their pupils averaged a maths score of about 107 at the end of primary school. Chadwell Primary School is the one carrying the place's name, and Warren Junior School is among the others around here. Seven schools is a small enough pool that one strong or weak year group can shift the average. Even so, about 107 is a result parents would be happy to see across a whole area, and it comes from ordinary state schools with no fees involved.

At secondary level, the three state schools in the area averaged an Attainment 8 score of about 52, weighted by the number of pupils at each. Chadwell Heath Academy is the one most families here will think of first, and The Warren School is also in the area. Little Heath School, in the Little Heath corner of the place, is listed separately from the mainstream secondaries. With only three secondaries in the average, the figure describes a handful of schools, which is also roughly how many a family here would realistically choose between.

Ofsted has graded 35 settings across Redbridge, and 33 of them came out good or outstanding, which is nearly all of them. Five are outstanding and two require improvement, and none is inadequate. These counts cover Redbridge as a whole, so they describe the borough's schools generally and are not a verdict on any one Chadwell Heath classroom. Settings that have not yet been given a grade are left out of the count.

Places are handed out under the council's published admissions rules, so a house near Chadwell Heath Academy or Chadwell Primary does not secure a place at either, whatever the sales particulars suggest about walking the children to school. Chadwell Heath is split between Redbridge and Barking and Dagenham, so find out which council's admissions rules cover the house you are looking at. The borough line decides more of a child's school day here than distance from the gate does. A family that has done the homework on the right council will get more out of this area than a family that only looked at the map.

Schools are one of Chadwell Heath's real strengths. The state schools are strong enough that most families here have no need to look further, or to pay.
