The schools around Staplehurst are good, and you'd have to try hard to end up somewhere that isn't. Across Kent, about nine in ten graded schools come out good or better. Failing schools are very rare. The village has its own primary a short walk from most front doors. Your real problem won't be finding a decent school, it'll be getting a place at the one you picked.
Ofsted has graded 245 schools and settings across Kent, and 221 of them are rated good or outstanding, which is roughly nine in every ten. Of those, 38 are outstanding. At the other end, 21 require improvement and 3 are inadequate. These counts cover the whole county, not Staplehurst alone, so they tell you how good the system is that the village sits in, not how each gate on the school run scores. A further 255 settings have no published grade yet. That means nobody has inspected them, not that anything is wrong. The county-wide spread is the reason local estate agents drop "excellent schools" into listings without bothering to name any.
Before you get attached to a name on a map, remember that the admissions rules don't care what you put in the listing. Places are handed out on published criteria, and living near a school improves your chances without guaranteeing a place. A buyer who picks a house for the primary at the end of the road and never reads the admissions policy may find the offer letter in spring disagrees with the plan. Check the school's own oversubscription criteria and last year's allocations before you exchange, not after.
Staplehurst School is the village primary. The Department for Transport's modelled journey times from 2019 put the nearest primary at about a 14-minute walk from the average home, so most families can do the school run without the car. Leigh Academy Marden is the obvious alternative in the next village, part of a trust that also runs primaries at Paddock Wood and Horsmonden. For secondary, the named option nearby is Leigh Academy Mascalls, and the secondary trip is a different matter: about 29 minutes by public transport or 17 by car, on the same 2019 model. A walk of nearly two hours means the teenage years here involve a bus pass or a parent with a lot of patience. The Quest School is also in the local listings for families who need something other than mainstream provision. Several more village primaries sit within reach, mostly small Church of England and community schools spread across the surrounding parishes.
Schools are one of the things Staplehurst gets most clearly right. The standard is high enough that the only real way to lose is to ignore the admissions rules.
