Harrow Weald is about as safe as the rest of Harrow, with crime running a touch above the borough rate. The difference is small enough to vanish in a bad month. Violence makes up a smaller share of crime than it does nationally. Car crime and nuisance make up a bigger one. This is a suburb whose trouble is mostly aimed at the car on the drive and the peace of the street, more than at the people in the houses.
The Metropolitan Police recorded 8,564 crimes across Harrow Weald in the year from June 2025 to May 2026, a published rate of about 91 per 1,000 residents. That puts the area roughly 6% above the Harrow average over the same twelve months. A gap that size can open or close on a few dozen incidents, so it reads best as level with the borough, drifting slightly the wrong side of it.
For the borough as a whole, the London Borough of Harrow's rate over the same year was about 85 per 1,000, against Harrow Weald's 91. Both are the published figures, side by side. The national police crime map can be searched street by street, and for a specific house that search is worth ten minutes, because a borough-wide rate says nothing about whether the nearest parade of shops is the busy one.
The area is dense for somewhere with a common in it: the 2021 census puts the average at about 8,590 people per square kilometre across Harrow Weald's neighbourhoods. Unemployment stood at about 3% and about 14% of households counted as overcrowded. None of that explains the crime figure on its own. It describes a built-up stretch of outer London where a lot of people, cars and shopfronts share not very much space, and the numbers tend to follow the footfall.
The mix is where Harrow Weald parts company with the national picture. Violence and sexual offences, the broad statutory category that includes common assault without injury and leads almost everywhere, make up about 28% of recorded crime here against about 35% across England and Wales. Anti-social behaviour runs higher, about 22% against 16% nationally, and vehicle crime about 9% against 5%. Other theft is level with the national share at about 7%, shoplifting lower at about 6% against 8%, and public order about 5% against 7%. The trade in Harrow Weald is in wing mirrors and noise complaints more than in fists.
What happens after a report is a separate question, and the answer comes from the force, not the street. The Metropolitan Police charges a suspect in about 10% of cases, against about 12% nationally, which places it 33rd of 42 forces. About 53% of its cases close with no suspect identified at all. Those are London-wide figures that Harrow Weald inherits along with the uniforms, and they say nothing about how safe any road here is, only about how likely a stolen catalytic converter is to come home.
Harrow Weald is middling on safety: a little busier for crime than the borough around it, with less violence than the national mix and more trouble for parked cars.
