The schools in Collier Row are good, and that's the plain answer. The local primaries score above the expected standard in maths. Almost every graded school in the borough is good or outstanding. One school has slipped below that line, and none are failing. Collier Row's schools hold up better than its reputation would suggest.
There are three mainstream state primaries in the area, and their average Key Stage 2 maths score is about 105, which is above the level the national scale counts as the expected standard. Clockhouse Primary School, Oasis Academy Pinewood and St Patrick's Catholic Primary School are the names on the list. Three schools make a small sample, so one strong year group can move that average. Still, a figure like that comes from children who can do long division by the end of Year 6, and they did it in an area with no station and no reputation for this sort of thing.
Of the 30 schools Ofsted has graded in Havering, 29 are good or outstanding, which leaves one that isn't. Seven have the outstanding grade, one requires improvement, and none are inadequate. Another 42 settings in the borough have no published grade yet, which only means Ofsted hasn't graded them. Across a whole borough, that record means a parent's real worry is whether their child gets a place, because there's little bad news in the grades.
Living near a school doesn't get a child into it. Places go out under Havering Council's published admissions rules, so the right check is how far from the school gate places actually reached in recent years, and how the faith criteria work at St Patrick's. The council publishes that information, and a buyer who reads it will make a better choice of street than one who goes by how close the house looks to the school. The parents who do best in March tend to be the ones who read the admissions booklet in October, while the house sale was still going through.
Schools are one of Collier Row's real strengths. Families can expect good primaries at the end of the road and a borough where a bad Ofsted report is rare.
